Stay Viaduct

Sleep in the middle of it. If you want to walk to most of what is on this site, stay on the waterfront: the marina, Wynyard Quarter and the Maritime Museum in minutes, the Sky Tower and Britomart in ten, the ferry terminal close enough to reach Waiheke or Rangitoto without a car.

Stay Viaduct runs serviced apartments across three buildings on Viaduct Harbour: The Heritage, The Sebel and The Quays. Rates start at $189 a night. The apartments are set up for longer stays rather than overnights, with full kitchens, in-suite laundry, high-speed fibre and access to a gym, heated pool and sauna. Arrival packs cover the first two to three days. Secure parking is available on site, subject to availability and with a 2.1 metre height limit. For work trips the apartments double as meeting space, with dining tables, good light and 65-inch screens, and there are conference rooms on site for anything larger. Flexible invoicing and group booking are handled directly, which is the part that matters if you are booking for a team rather than yourself. Everything on the waterfront is walkable from the door, and the ferry terminal is about ten minutes on foot.

Auckland spreads a long way, so where you sleep decides how much of it you see. The city centre and the waterfront put you inside walking distance of the harbour, the ferries and most of the evening activities on this site. Staying out in the suburbs means a car or a long bus ride for almost everything.

Serviced apartments suit longer stays better than hotel rooms do. A kitchen and a washing machine matter more than a lobby once you are past a couple of nights, and they work for families and for teams who need somewhere to eat together rather than a row of separate rooms.

If you are here for a specific thing, check the ferry timetable before you book. Waiheke, Rangitoto and Tiritiri Matangi all run from the downtown terminal, and the last sailing back is earlier than people expect.

Common questions

Where is the best area to stay in Auckland without a car?

The waterfront and the city centre. Viaduct Harbour, Wynyard Quarter and Britomart are all walkable to each other and to the ferry terminal, which is how you reach Waiheke and Rangitoto. Almost everything else in Auckland needs a car or a bus.

What is walking distance from Viaduct Harbour?

The Maritime Museum and the marina are on the doorstep. Wynyard Quarter is across the Wynyard Crossing bridge, a few minutes when it is down. The Sky Tower, Britomart and the ferry terminal are all around ten minutes on foot. Karangahape Road is uphill and closer to twenty-five.

Are serviced apartments better than a hotel in Auckland?

For one or two nights it rarely matters. Past that, a kitchen, a washing machine and a dining table change the stay, particularly for families and for work trips where the team needs to eat and meet somewhere other than a hotel room.

How are places to stay chosen for this page?

The same way as every other listing. Being listed is free, promoted listings are paid and are labelled as promoted whoever owns them, and no commission is taken on bookings.
