About Do Auckland

What this is

Do Auckland is a guide to things to do across the Auckland region. Every listing carries a price, a group size range, a minimum age, whether it's indoor or outdoor, and booking hours, so you can work out whether something suits before you click through to book. We add more as we check them.

Who runs it

Do Auckland is run by David and Paij, both based in Auckland. We wanted to build something without an agenda.

How listings get here

Two ways. We add places ourselves, or an operator submits their own listing and we review it before it goes live. Either way the details get checked against the operator's own site before we publish. Operators can claim a listing they didn't create and take over its details, photos and promo codes.

• •The main photo has to be a real photo of the venue or the activity. Logos and stock images don't get through.
• •Prices have to be current, and what a person actually pays.
• •The activity has to be in the Auckland region.
• •Descriptions have to be accurate and useful to someone deciding whether to go.

How we handle money

Being listed is free and always has been. There are two things an operator can pay for, and both are labelled on the page where they appear.

• •A promoted listing. It sits higher in results and gets a highlighted map pin. It doesn't change what we write about the venue.
• •A sponsored Tried & Tested visit. We go, we pay attention, we write it up with photos. The operator pays for the visit, not for the verdict, and the article says it was sponsored.

Paid links on this site carry a sponsored tag, which is the standard way of telling search engines that money changed hands. Promoted listings are marked the same way whoever owns them.

What we don't do

We don't take a commission on bookings, so nothing here is ranked by what it pays us. We don't write reviews for places we haven't been to. If a listing is wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.
